KROPKA THEATRE: PENTHE MURDER
Death, humiliation, sex, and the pettiness of daily life are recurrent themes in awarded Kropka Theatre new approach based on myth on Amazon Queen Penthesilea and the pride of Greeks, Achilles. The tides of their private battle turn and return with mounting intensity, making havoc of every gain the Greeks and the Amazons have made. The experimental cutting with Purcell’s opera greatly draws upon while displaying the agonies and humiliations, the futility of human suffering as well as motifs of degradation and death. An intensive engagement with the audience shows how Kropka Theatre’s expression may interfere the brilliant writing of Heinrich Von Kleist. The year 2011 is proclaimed by UNESCO a year of Henirich von Kleist to commemorate his suicidal death 200 years ago. We hope to acknowledge his mastery by presenting adapted work in an emotional and minimalist form of theatre. Kropka Theatre was born in Sydney, 1997 currently set in Poland focuses on intimate format, with the richness of viewing live theatre and the realisation of the power of work to be presented in a unique form fully engaging the audience. Jolanta Juszkiewicz trained in classical and contemporary theatre with the constant care for both practical and theoretical development by scrupulously chosen international theatre masters and schools. Awarded and distinguished mostly with a form of solo performances.
